Mothers find it difficult to manage their sickly child along with their daily tasks.
Solution
We created a smartphone app that lets mothers track their child’s fever, set up medicine dosage alerts and immunization calendar reminders, find near-by pharmacies, find symptoms of common ailments and play soothing lullabies.
Process
We asked mothers what they found most challenging and frustrating when they are taking care of a sick child. They told us that they worry about juggling everyday tasks along with making sure that their child is taken care of. We studied the smartphone usage of mothers and decided to launch an app that they could use while on the go.
We included features that mothers found most important. I worked closely with our developer and internal and external regulatory bodies to get the app approved and make sure it adhered to Apple guidelines.
The launch plan also included a video that gave mothers a snapshot of the app's main features.
Results
The app was the first of its kind on the market and became the most successful app at J&J UK, later to be launched in Ireland as well. Through social media listening we saw that mothers were recommending the app to their friends and raved about how useful the app was. We also tracked unique downloads and time spent on the app.
