Users consume print media based on headlines, which the current Newsstand app does not highlight.

Solution

Redesign the Newsstand App store layout to enable customers to see content by category as they would at a physical newsstand and curate content relevant for each country or region.

Process

After looking at the way print media is consumed, we realized that we needed to create a better browsing experience. We changed the layout to more prominently feature titles by categories and call out headlines at the top of the carousel.

We also curated collections based on regional preferences and popularity.

Results

The redesign created a new retail experience for customers that was more in line with how they consumed media off-line. The new layout also enabled publishers greater exposure, especially in Eastern Europe where new publishers were coming onto the platform every day.
